In recognition
of the continued growth problem of substance abuse in our society,
it is the policy of our company that management shall take all reasonable
measures sufficient to assure that drug or alcohol use by employees
or other persons does not jeopardize the safety of our operations
or otherwise adversely affect the company, its employees, customers,
or the community.
The use, possession,
sale, or distribution of alcohol or drugs for non-medical reason,
and/or being under the influence of these substances is prohibited
in the work place. Violation of these rules of conduct is grounds
for immediate disciplinary action, up to and including discharge.
The standard
of prohibiting the presence of drugs and alcohol in the body in
the work place has been set for these reasons.
- There is
no know "no effect" level of these substances.
- There is
no way to measure when a person is "under the influence" of these
substances.
- Management
is just not willing to risk safety of the work place by estimating
a level of impairment that can vary for any individual.
